A teenager sustained serious injuries when she was thrown from a go-kart after it somersaulted. Instructed to undertake a post accident engineering inspection of the go-kart, this revealed deficiencies in its design, when compared to national guidelines, and evidence of pre-existing maintenance faults. These factors were analysed and found likely to have increased the risk of a driver both losing control and overturning.
